Artist Review: / Album Review:

Avant-propos : le pourquoi de cette chronique se doit d'être explicité avant le début de la lecture de ce petit article sous peine que le lecteur lambda familier de l'univers du W-Fenec ne nous claque entre les doigts. Pour l'anecdote donc, cet album m'a été conseillé par grand spécialiste de musiques électroniques qui a su aiguiser ma curiosité en me mettant cet album sous le nez. La raison est évidente : cet artwork est en tous points sublime et mérite à lui seul que l'on tente l'expérience. Me voici donc embarqué dans une aventure musicale dont je ne maîtrise aucunement les tenants et aboutissements, mais qui par son étrangeté autant que par son magnétisme sombre m'a conduit à écrire ces quelques lignes.
De som sejrede donc, un album signé par un artiste danois répondant au doux pseudonyme de Nattefrost, qui n'a rien à voir avec un groupe de black metal foireux du même nom et qui peut être vaguement décrite comme une oeuvre d'ambient électronique sombre et mouvante. Je vous ferai grâce du tracklisting complet en danois, puisque les titres des dix morceaux de ce disque ont été traduits en anglais, on a donc évité : "Gravhøjens gand" et "Vejen til Asgård pour finalement se retrouver avec "The magic of the burial mound" et "The Road to Asgard". Asgard justement, le nom est lâché. Pour certains, ce nom n'évoquera rien du tout, mais les férus de mythologie nordique auront reconnu le nom de la Cité abritant le Valhalla, à savoir le coeur du royaume d'Odin (dieu de la guerre). Le rapport avec un album d'ambient éléctro danois est tout trouvé. (si si, vous allez voir, il y en a un), Nattefrost a cherché avec ce disque à livrer une série de compositions évoquant les légendes ancestrales nordiques en construisant patiemment une oeuvre aux ambiances à la fois obscures, lourdes, aériennes et poétiques. ça c'est pour le concept de base. Dans les faits. Bjorn Jeppesen, alias Nattefrost livre avec De som sejrede une fable électronique faite d'arrangements orchestraux subtils et intrigants. Sombre et minimaliste, sa musique a quelque chose de très cinématographique dans ce qu'elle a d'onirique. Ici, les mouvements sont particulièrement lents, les nappes de synthés envoûtantes, fantomatiques et spectrales. Trame sonore illustrant un voyage aux confins des légendes nordiques, ce disque est une oeuvre dans laquelle il est difficile de s'immerger au départ et qui nécessite quelques efforts et plusieurs écoutes afin de l'appréhender. Et pourtant après quelques plages musicales (peut-on parler de morceaux ?), De som sejrede nous invite à un voyage musical initiatique et mystérieux au travers des légendes scandinaves ancestrales.

Band History:
Bjorn Jeppesen started Nattefrost in the late months of 1995. The concept was to make ambient/classical atmospheric themes influenced by ancient Scandinavia. Nattefrost had another name in the very beginning, "I Nattens Mшrke", it was called, but Bjorn changed it to Nattefrost just before releasing the first demo cassette, "Nеr mеnen er fuld" back in May 1996. In the beginning of 1997 Nattefrost released another demo cassette entitled "Storm over danmarks oldsletter". Both cassettes were limited to 50 copies and were sold out in 1997.

Later in 1997 Bjorn started composing new material for Nattefrost. In December that year the first CD release by Nattefrost was out, entitled "Nordboernes solhvervsfest". The mini CD contains 4 tracks and it was limited to 75 copies only, also sold out long time ago.

From January - April 1998 Bjorn started composing some more tracks for Nattefrost. But later that year he formed a band called "Carboneids" with Claus Holm Lynglund and they worked very well together. "Carboneids" is very different to Nattefrost so Bjorn chose to have Carboneids as the main music project and keep Nattefrost as a side project. The tracks made in 1998 were never released.

In the year of 2000 Bjorn found that it was time to create some new Nattefrost material. 2 tracks were finished in January 2000, "Mod Lindisfarne" and "Slaget som varede evigt". A few more tracks were finished in May 2000, but Bjorn was too busy with "Carboneids" to do anything with the Nattefrost tracks. Even in August and September 2001 Nattefrost recorded 3 tracks (I krig, Svжrdet and Mit hedenske blod) but again Bjorn was too busy with "Carboneids" and those Nattefrost tracks were just lying around.

In July 2003 Bjorn decided to release some new Nattefrost material or at least some of the old stuff he'd done. 9 tracks were found and re-mastered. Almost ready for an album, but he wanted a new track on the album as well, so in October 2003 Nattefrost recorded "Tеrnets krigere" for the album "De som sejrede..." .

In November 2003 Nattefrost released a 3" CD Promo, limited to only 30 copies, entitled "De som sejrede... (Promo)" and including 4 of the tracks from the album which should be released in January 2004.

In November the same year Nattefrost appeared on a belgian compilation CD, "From the nulll void", released by "Nulll Records" which gave Nattefrost some more promotion.

Bjorn wanted to release his debut album of Nattefrost on his own independent record label "NFP" (Nattefrost Productions), but the promo CD of "De som sejrede..." gave him the chance to sign a deal with another belgian record label called "Nothingness Records" who liked the music very much so on the 30th of April "De som sejrede..." will be released there. This time 240 copies will be printed (40 of them are promos).

In April 2004 Nattefrost will also be included on a danish electronica compilation released by "HZ Records" together with his own "NFP".

On the 21st of December 2004 Nothingness Records released the new Nattefrost EP called "Vejen til Asgеrd".

Советую качать всем т.к. это безспорный шедевр.
Редко что такого высокого качества слышал в Dark Wave , Dark Ambient.
